I was so looking forward to this book after reading the first in the series last month. Luckily, they seem to be coming out rather quickly. I love how the alphas and omegas in this series are so unlike the stereotypical ones that we usually get. It keeps this all fresh and interesting. I really enjoyed learning more about what was causing the Condition. This was handled well and not at all preachy in my opinion. I’ve learned the hard way that what we put into our bodies makes all the difference in the world. I can’t wait for Brook and Aspen’s story, and I am hopeful that both Ford and Skye get to have their own stories as well in the future. All in all, two enthusiastic thumbs up! Two major issues with this second book. The first was the angst between Ridge and Alexis created by forced non- or mis-communication. These guys live in an extremely small community and then move to another similar small closely knit community and the reader is expected to believe that the sale of the farm by Ridge’s dad was not discussed by anyone, in either community and so both Ridge and Alexis get to whine ad naseum about being misunderstood when reality is they’re just not communicating. It felt like a cheap plot device. And the second is the “great discovery” made at the site for that new Sterling farm. There is some ground work delineating possible issues, outcomes and conflicts and then …. Nothing. Next chapter, everything is resolved, everything is better, life is good and the reader is left swinging in the breeze from that rapid plot solution which occurred between the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. Why even tell the reader about The Condition if the solution is handled off screen, out of sight? This book ends with a whimper and a shrug.
